There is a lot of hype regarding the importance of effective communication in our day-to-day lives. Communicating effectively with another person strengthens relationship besides creating strong positive bonds for future dealings. Communicating ideas and feelings in a proper way brings people together be it friends, family or colleagues.

Misunderstanding can also be prevented by effectively communicating with each other. Several times, there is a tendency to assume that the other party understands what one is thinking while speaking. Assumption does not make for an effective communication and can create misinterpretation. Human beings do not have any means of understanding what the other person is thinking so it is necessary to spend some time and think before speaking. There is no better way of understanding the importance of effective communication than while speaking with the opposite sex. Misinterpretation of ideas among husbands and wives or girlfriends and boyfriends is the main reason for breakups and divorce. While expressing we need to be as specific as possible.

People who are good listeners and good at conveying messages are more confident than others are while communicating with another person. As we grow older, we interact with a lot of people and gain experience which results in increase in self esteem. As such, ideas are exchanged more effectively and easily. The bottom line of effective communication is putting the other person in your shoes. Think what you feel when you say a particular thing.

Thus, effective communication minimizes misunderstanding and improves self confidence. So learning the skills and importance of effective communication is something, which should not be taken lightly at all.
