Non verbal communication
It is not only verbal communication that plays an important part in the communication process, but non verbal communication plays an equally important part sometimes more than verbal communication. Emotional intelligence is an important requirement at both work and home to be able to communicate effectively. Non-verbal communication expressed through body language, facial expression, tone of the voice and pace of the voice plays a very important part while communicating.
More than verbal communication, it is non verbal communication that makes or breaks a relationship. This form of communication listens to what is being said by the speaker, understand them and then answers them. While answering a question the way we talk, react, move and look are very important. A sense of trust, excitement, interest and desire are generated by the way we convey a message.
Eye contact is the most important non-verbal communication. If there is no eye contact, you lose the chance of making an impression on the opposite person. Neither should eye contact be missing nor should it be too intense. Moreover, emotional experiences of each moment are conveyed through the tone of the voice you convey. Your voice may be warm, may show you being confident or may show your delight. Additionally, while speaking the way you stand, sit, lean, bend and move your body play a very important part. It shows whether you are confident or what you speak is the truth.
Thus, non verbal communication is an important part of the communication process. Non-verbal communication skills should be developed so as to convey the proper meaning to the listener.
